there are some days

there are some days
when my heart tells me
wait, pause
set your phone aside
pick up that memory you’ve been avoiding
think about it,
touch it again,
live it again.
my heart tells me
wait, pause
sit still,
let your soul connect
with someone else’s
miles away from you.
it tells me
go, listen to that song again
sway to its melody
and let it fill you.

in it’s stillness
and in it’s chaos,
my heart will tell me
look
there is someone reaching out to you;
my heart will tell me
stay
don’t fight this
and don’t run away;
my heart will tell me
shh, quiet
don’t say a word
stay silent for only a moment;
listen.

and when i do,
an energy strengthens the connection between us
utterly consuming me –
i am now thinking, living and swaying
all at once.
i feel our souls connect
mine and someone else’s,
as if they were never apart
my soul inside me
and their soul,
miles away from me.
