To reassert my priorities

For me, self-growth has become a constant process of me pulling myself out of self-depleting mindsets and allowing myself to assign more importance to my own self, than others.

More often than not, it’s a challenge (as it should be) to do this. I think about other people a lot more than I think about myself; only to find myself spiralling back into unhealthy habits, thoughts and routines.

There are some things that remind me of my priorities, though. And I decided I’d list them out for times when I need them, but am resistant to actually giving in to them.

  1. Watching ‘Academy of Ideas’ on YouTube
  2. Listening to Jordan B. Peterson (an update years later: I don’t stand by this. Not sure I ever did. I don’t think I fully understood exactly what he was talking about back then)
  3. Reading quotes on growth from some of the greatest philosophers to have ever lived; including Jung, Nietzsche and Kierkegaard
  4. Reading some books that have uplifted me in the past
  5. Listening to podcasts that force me to reflect on my life
